Louis XIV style giltwood barometer and thermometer with carved leaf, torch and quiver surrounds and "Sun King" mask pendant, the face with pierced brass hands, gilt stenciled weather conditions, signature, and likely apocryphal date, "L. Chiraux... Paris 1702". 9" diameter face; 46" H x 19" overall. French, late 19th to early 20th century.
Scattered breaks and repairs to carving, wear and fading to painted elements, mercury tube severed leaving lower 5" still present, barometer is non-functioning with mercury appearing to be absent, thermometer non-functional.
