Large Middle TN Pottery Churn, Thomas W. Clouse

Large Middle Tennessee, Putnam County, 10-gallon salt-glazed stoneware pottery churn with Albany-type slip interior, stamped T. W. CLOUSE on the upper body for Thomas Winchester "Dick" Clouse (1869 - 1915) and stamped "10" denoting capacity below the rim. 21 1/2" H. Late 19th/Early 20th century. Note: in the book "Tennessee Potteries, Pots, and Potters - 1790s to 1950", by Samuel D. Smith and Stephen Rogers, Clouse began working for Rachel Lafever at her pottery site around 1895. On page 612 of the book, a near identical churn is featured and a close-up of the mark is shown.
Condition
Overall very good condition with minor chipping to both lug handles.
