LE COSTUME HISTORIQUE by M. A. Racinet. Paris: Firmin-Didot et Cie, 1888, in 6 volumes. First Collected Edition of Auguste Racinet's exhaustive work on the history of clothing. Originally published individually in France between 1876 and 1888; collected in 1888 in six volumes with 500 plates.  Volume I contains 12 plates; volume II 88; volume III 95; volume IV 97; volume V 94; and volume VI with 97. Maroon half calf, marbled boards and endpapers, gilt top edge, silk ribbon markers. Volumes are each 9 in. x 9 in. with varying thicknesses.

Condition

Vols. II and V rebound with complementary 1/2 leather. Very good condition with rubbing to leather, boards with some roughing and scratches and chips to spines. Some light toning throughout.
