First Collected Edition of Cowley's  Poems, notably The Mistress (1647). Also includes Miscellanies, Pindarique Odes, and four books of Davideis, an epic based on King David of the Old Testament. Biographical Note: Abraham Cowley (c. 1618-1667) was a prominent English Royalist poet educated at Cambridge. He served as secretary to Queen Henrietta Maria in Paris during the English Civil War. A precocious author of epics, his notable works include The Mistress and The Cutter of Coleman Street. He was highly celebrated in his day and is buried in Westminster Abbey.

Very good overall with rubbing to leather; bookplate front pastedown; light toning and foxing throughout. Some separation to the front cover but front cover not detached.
