Lewis C Kesling (California/West Virginia, 1930-2003) oil on paper laid on board painting depicting two African American women with surprised facial expressions attired in colorful hair scarfs and holding grocery bags, against a background with urban architectural details under a cloudy blue sky. Signed "Lewis Kesling" lower right. Lyzon Gallery, Nashville TN label affixed, en verso. Housed in a contemporary wormy wood style frame. Sight: 17" H x 18" W. Framed: 20 1/4" H x 21" W.
Condition
Some scattered areas of retouching, largest area 3" L on right-hand women's forehead. Other areas located in the lower margin and background, visible under UV light inspection. Some light wear to frame.
