Michael Godard (American, b. 1958) gold pen on canvas, "Ye Old Pub," 2010. Set in colonial Boston, the artist's signature olive-with-martini figure dresses in early American garb and rides a horse toward a tavern. Inside, an olive bartender prepares another martini while a third olive sprawls on the ground outside. A strawberry figure holds an American flag out of a window above. In the background a large ship floats in the Boston Harbor. Signed lower right. Housed in an ebonized and giltwood frame. Sight: 23 1/2 in H x 29 1/2 in W. Frame: 34 in H x 40 in W. Note: Two artist DVDs, including one showing him creating this work, accompany this lot, along with a signed photograph of the artist.
