Red Grooms colored lithograph on wove paper, design for sculpture for the Fox Trot Carousel, depicting a caricature of Major Eugene C. Lewis emerging from the smokestack of a train and holding a model of the Parthenon. This sculpture was part of the Fox Trot Carousel designed by Red Grooms in 1998 for installation at the Riverfront Park in Nashville, TN. Editioned in red lower left 18/40 and signed and dated in red lower right "Red Grooms '97" Float mounted on white paper and housed in a carved ebonized frame. Sheet: 11 3/4" H x 9 3/4" W. Frame: 20 3/4" H x 18 1/4" W. Note: Major Eugene C. Lewis (1845-1917) was an engineer and businessman. He was chairman of the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis Railway from 1900 to 1917. He was also a civic leader and helped develop Shelby Park, and Centennial Park, including installing the Parthenon and Union Station.

Overall very good condition, light fading.
