Two (2) prints: Whistler and Tempesta. 1st item: James McNeill Whistler (American, 1834-1903), "Sketch After Cecil Lawson's Swan and Iris," etching and drypoint in black ink on watermarked laid paper, 7 1/8"H x 4 5/8"W (182 x 120 mm), plate 3 1/2" x 5 1/4" (134 x 82 mm.) Ref. Kennedy 241; Glasgow 247; Mansfield 238. 2nd item: Attributed to Antonio Tempesta (Italian, 1555-1630) engraving in black ink on laid paper depicting men gathering around an outdoor table for a feast, shaking hands and drinking wine. Latin printing en verso. Likely from the Annals and History of Cornelius Tacitus, 17th century. Sheet- 8 3/4" x 6 7/8" (170 x 223 mm). Plate 8 1/4" x 6 5/8". (212 x 112 mm).

Condition

Light toning and sun oxidation; hinge-mounted with tape at upper edge; losses along left edge from previous binding. 2nd item: Margins trimmed; small losses to lower edge, overall toning, tape along top edge en verso.
