1604 publication of Publius Cornelius Tacitus' Annals and Histories, in a single volume, translated into "the Tuscan vernacular" by Adriano Politi. Venice: Paolo Meglietti, 1604. 12mo., contemporary limp vellum over boards with leather thong sewing; yapp-edge covers; handwritten title on spine; printer's woodcut device on title. 5 1/4 in. x 3 1/4 in. x 2 in. Note: Tacitus, a 1st-century Roman politician and historian, is best known for his  'Annals' and 'Histories', delving into the lives and political actions of Roman emperors such as Tiberius, Nero, and Claudius.

Condition

Very good; vellum is age-stained, with 1 1/2 inch crack to front cover, prev. owner's stamp inside back cover, handwriting on some pages.
