Douglas K. Gifford (American, 20th/21st century) acrylic on canvas painting of an abandoned Queen Anne style Victorian train station, with painted sign on side of building reading "Crawford's Notch" (NH). Signed lower left with copyright symbol. Framed in a silver and gold gilt tone molded frame. Sight: 27 7/8" H x 41 3/4" W. Framed: 34 1/4" H x 48" W. Note: The train station depicted, Crawford Depot near Carroll, NH, has since been restored and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Biography: American contemporary painter Douglas K. Gifford is best known as a representational painter of architecture, and for his invention of a unique, three dimensional painting technique he calls Stereo Schema Realism. Gifford was born in Evanston, Illinois and studied at Bucknell University and The Ringling Art School, and was heavily influenced by Edward Hopper. After his graduation, cumulative awards and commissions led to one-artist shows in New York, Palm Beach, Nantucket, and Naples.
