Late Classical Kentucky secretary bookcase, figured mahogany and mahogany veneers, poplar and pine secondary, in two parts. The upper case having an applied dentil style block cornice and plain frieze above two hinged glazed doors with latticework concealing three adjustable shelves. The lower case with one full convex-front drawer containing a fold-out hinged leather covered writing surface above two doors concealing one shelf, convex skirt and block feet with ogee facings. Backboard of upper case with black painted script, "Mahoney". 85" H x 48 3/4" W x 22 1/4" D. Circa 1840.

The Collection of Michael and Peggy Mahoney, by descent from the historic homes of Clarkland Farm at Bryan's Station and Cherrycote, Lexington, Kentucky.

Condition

Overall very good condition with minor surface wear and abrasions. Drawer veneer with some wood shrinkage.
